The Lorne Home located in Portage La Prairie is an excellent example of how Turning Leaf can think and execute services differently. We have created a resident home that has staff available for support  24 hours a day.

Within its walls, our participants have found a place they can call home for now. They are given the semi-independent living conditions that can empower them to change and to improve their chance of success and stability.

We are able to provide individuals who have demonstrated success in residential living with an intermediate step to transitioning into complete independent living.

On September 22, 2017, Turning Leaf hosted an open house to the businesses and community members of Portage la Prairie as a celebration of this new home.

We’d like to thank the community leaders for attending the event and showing your interest and support!

While it looked like it was going to rain, it held off just long enough. The barbeque was a huge success!

The burgers were so good!

Everyone enjoyed food, prizes, games, and the music provided by local talent.

And we can’t forget about the fries. Simplot stopped by and gave us a free taste of their awesome fries.

This event was special because it really showed these individuals that we support are valued members of the community. This neighbourly connection increases the likelihood that they will want to give back and strive for change. They will want to contribute to the community, whether that’s through employment or volunteering with other organizations. Each individual can then help make a difference. Turning Leaf is incredibly happy to have such a beautiful property.
